2024 Tebis Open House: Guests were inspired by the motto "Shape the future"

    Tebis News: Shape the future!

From the cloud to agility, gigacasting and AI: Along with the focus on CAD/CAM and MES, this year's Tebis Open House presented a broad range of other topics relevant to the industry.

Martinsried, Germany, July 4, 2024 – The motto of this year's Tebis AG Open House was "Shape the future." Over 400 guests joined us in Martinsried on June 12 and 13. In the live high-profile presentations, they learned more about how the industry can best face the new challenges: globalization, automation, digitalization, networking and sustainability. In the exhibit area, the guests also learned how key future technologies like AI, digital twins, the cloud and SaaS are taking the solutions and services from Tebis to a new level – and why the solutions for the future will require more courage and agility.

In his keynote presentation, CEO Dr. Thomas Wrede invited the guests to proactively shape the future of the industry and to seize the opportunities offered by the new technologies. With this in mind, Tebis sees the following fields and technologies as critical: Artificial intelligence, the cloud and SaaS, digital twins, globalization, automation, digitalization, networking and sustainability.
Tebis can use its expertise and different sized and types of projects for all of these technologies. Examples:

    • Digital twins: Tebis has been a leader in using digital twins in single-part manufacturing since 2000.
    • AI: In current AI research projects with third parties, Tebis was able to demonstrate that the data preparation effort for designers and NC programmers can be reduced by 40-50% with an AI-supported die-creation process.
    • Agility: Tebis template technology is an example of one of the first new products with agile development from Tebis.

During the two-day presentation program, the speakers provided more perspectives, examples and predictions for the future with regard to these meta-topics. The presentation agenda included BMW, the Technical University of Munich, GEDIA Dingerkus, Schäfer Holding, Schaufler Cooperation, tooling corporation and other well-known speakers from industry, research and academia as well as experts from Tebis and ProLeiS. The subjects of the approximately 30-minute technical presentations included comprehensive automation and digitalization, process efficiency, the added value of collaboration and the global trend of gigacasting. The reasons why agility is becoming more important as part of the corporate culture was also discussed.

In his presentation "Factory of the future – On the way to the self-learning factory," social media influencer Tobias Herweg also provided pioneering inspiration for the industry: He sees the potential of the die manufacturing industry being just as important as the production industry in general, and he called for the crucial cultural framework focused on embracing change.

More than 20 collaboration partners participated in the associated exhibit: Belotti S.p.A., AMD Advanced Micro Devices GmbH, Aura Tools GmbH, Carl Zeiss GOM Metrology GmbH, DCAM, DMG MORI Pfronten GmbH, DMG MORI Seebach GmbH, E. Zoller GmbH & Co. KG, FCS Systems SrL, F. Zimmermann GmbH, EIMA Maschinenbau GmbH, Fooke GmbH, Gühring KG, GROB-WERKE GmbH & Co. KG, Hufschmied Zerspanungssysteme GmbH, Ingersoll Werkzeuge GmbH, Kolb Design Technology GmbH & Co. KG, MOLDINO Tool Engineering Europe GmbH, POKOLM Frästechnik GmbH & Co. KG, Renishaw GmbH, Schneider Digital, Werkzeugmaschinenfabrik WALDRICH COBURG GmbH, Dr. Johannes Heidenhain GmbH, VDWF e.V., Marktspiegel Werkzeugbau.

The exhibit area presented practical examples at a high technical level that showed how new key technologies are transforming current manufacturing processes. Several of the trending offerings – including the cloud & software as a service (SaaS) and sustainability concepts for our industry – were demonstrated in separate rooms (like the AI lab and Green Lounge). Speakers from Tebis and Tebis Consulting invited participants to join in personal discussions and talked with them about their experiences and plans. Last but definitely not least: The Open House participants learned more about the latest product developments and services offered by Tebis AG and its subsidiaries Tebis Consulting, ProLeiS and DCAM.

A new product that was very well-received by the guests was the app developed in-house by Tebis and ProLeiS to replace the traditional Open House booklet. As a special treat, the app gave guests the opportunity to order their own coin personalized in CAD/CAM as an example of a modern manufacturing process. The order was placed by the supplier integration function in ProLeiS so that customers could view their order status at any time. Roughly 400 aluminum coins were manufactured alternately by the three milling partners: DMG Mori, GROB and Hermle. After manufacturing, the coins were sent directly to the recipients with a delivery note.

The event was completed by an evening program that included an interactive experience moderated by the Escola de Samba, a delicious and innovative food concept and many opportunities for interactions and conversations among Tebis AG customers and employees.
