What’s possible with automation in Tebis 4.1 and MES ProLeiS? How can we counter the skilled-labor shortage fear factor? Guests at the Tebis Open House found answers to these and other questions.
Time savings – CAD/CAM automation – Safety with full performance From lectures to booths and software demonstrations: The 2022 Tebis Open House was once again held under the motto "We bring it all together." More than 400 customers and interested parties from Germany and other countries returned to the Tebis headquarters in Martinsried, Germany, after the two-year hiatus caused by the pandemic.
On June 1 and 2, the Open House guests learned about new and familiar CAD/CAM process solutions and technologies and about the potential for saving time in the overall process. Many partners from the Tebis technology network also presented their solutions at information booths.
The Tebis 4.1 Challenge: Nine customer parts, one hour each The Tebis 4.1 Challenge was an absolute highlight of the Technology Days. Customers were asked in advance to bring their own CAD model as a challenge to Tebis employees in CAD preparation and CAM programming in Tebis 4.1. They spent a maximum of one hour working with the CAD model for all to see. Visitors to the Open House could follow the complete processing of customer components from production machining and die and mold manufacturing live and in the presentation room.
The result: 9 more or less complex customer parts were all prepared in less than an hour – including the calculated machining toolpaths. The spectators were thoroughly impressed. Some especially interested customers took the mouse in their own hands to try out the Tebis 4.1 template technology.
Learning from practice: Best practices from everyday life in manufacturing Every seat in the auditorium was also filled for a compelling program of presentations on both days. Tebis customers present at the event included Teh-Cut from Croatia, Stolz&Seng, Robert Bosch, Riemann, Toyota Gazoo Racing, Schweikert, Röchling and Porsche Werkzeugbau. The presenters shared their experience on a wide range of industry topics and trends.
They talked about selecting the right software system, success with implementation and performance improvements. Other presentations on the business model and competitiveness, digitalization in die manufacturing and on working with Tebis Consulting were also rewarded with lots of applause.
Automation, CAM-integrated NC verification and time savings of up to 85% The afternoon presentation program was dominated by automation. Tebis experts from Product Management, Technical Support and Implementation explained how Tebis CAD/CAM software can be used to increase automation along the process chain. The benefits of consistent implementation can’t be stressed enough: Time savings from data import to the manufactured component – up to 85%.
The Tebis experts also clearly showed how automation with Tebis template technology combines fast processing with safe manufacturing. Templates, virtual setup, complete CAM-integrated collision checking with NC verification – the essential foundation for automated work is a standardized procedure. For example, parametric CAD templates in Tebis 4.1 handle data preparation with just a few inputs: Create holes, tilt directions, fill surfaces and blanks. CAM templates handle the data for automated CAM programming.

The final presentation provided an overview of current topics in software development. It also showed how the digital transformation with a digital shop, digital project control and digitally stored expertise helps to overcome the challenges of price pressure, safe and flexible planning and the shortage of expertise and skilled labor.
