End-to-end turning and milling in a turn-mill center

Combined machining on a turn-mill machine has to account for many factors, especially when manufacturing complex geometries.

This part is somewhat reminiscent of a rocket, and so we named it the "Rocket shape." It’s a very good example of how you can keep a handle on manufacturing throughout the process and get the most out of your high-performance machines.

    • Safety is at the top of the list. Positioning movements with units like turrets and steady rests, transferring the part from the sub spindle to the main spindle, head movements close to the part – everything can be controlled and monitored in Tebis CAD/CAM software.
    • What our customers particularly appreciate: In Tebis, you only need one postprocessor for all machining operations – in this case for drilling, turning and milling on the main and sub spindles. This greatly simplifies handling.
    • We manufactured the part at a very high surface quality and used barrel cutters.

    Cleverly combining turning and milling

Combined turn-milling can be used to perform end-to-end turning and milling operations on a single machine without reclamping.

That’s why this method is highly efficient, reducing costs and throughput time.

In addition to turn-milling and mill-turning, Tebis also supports interpolation turning.
