With Tebis Version 4.0 Release 7, Tebis AG brings the next highlight in multi-axis milling to the market: automated deburring.

The new Tebis solution for automated multi-axis deburring enables you to greatly reduce manual reworking on the part. This also enables you to significantly better tap into the capabilities of your machines. Fabian Jud, Tebis product manager, says: "Many companies still deburr manually today. With our solution, which is suitable for machining with ball cutters or tapered cutters, the NC programmer automatically generates the toolpaths in the CAD/CAM software – deburring is performed by the machine." The new solution is extremely simple. It is fully integrated in Tebis template technology. Preparation and milling functions are optimally harmonized.

    Quickly and easily prepare parts

Absolutely no design knowledge is required to prepare the part with the new "NCPrep/Edge" function. You simply select the part – all sharp edges are automatically detected. If desired, you can use filters to restrict the automatic selection. For example, bores that are to be countersunk – and thus deburred during boring – can be excluded from processing. Afterward, you simply select the edges you actually want to deburr – and you’re done. The elements are stored in structures on layers.

Fully integrated in Tebis template technology

Similarly to the other Tebis milling functions, you only select the elements to be processed in the new deburring function, "NC5ax/NBurring." This is very simple with the layer structure and automatic element selection. It is not necessary to select individual curves or to interactively angle the tool. The tool essentially finds the optimal tilt direction automatically. 5-axis simultaneous avoidance milling is also integrated when using ball cutters.

Optimally combine 3-axis and 5-axis simultaneous machining operations

The new solution is suitable for 5-axis simultaneous machining as well as for 3-axis machining with positionable axes. Because, of course, a fixed tilt direction can also be specified. Multi-head machines can thus be used with no difficulties: Regardless of whether you wish to perform deburring with a 3-axis, 5-axis or angle head – only those toolpaths are calculated that can be traversed without collisions using the selected head and the selected tilt direction. The machine operates at a very high performance level: 3-axis and 5-axis simultaneous machining operations can therefore be combined to reduce tool movements and traverse paths to a minimum.

    Broad application spectrum

The new function can be used in many applications: It is highly suited to deburring prismatic parts from mechanical engineering or for producing mold frames. But it can also be used to manufacture complex parts significantly faster.

The solution for multi-axis deburring is included in the standard Tebis performance levels. The new Tebis Version 4.0 Release 7 is expected to be available for download in the Tebis customer portal in late March.
